Kenshatori® is a small UK-based company providing Overland Camper & Cargo systems for the Land Rover Defender. Founded by Dan Harvey, a lifelong Defender enthusiast and now owner, Kenshatori® is passionate about crafting premium yet practical interior systems that offer our customers Built-In Adventure at an affordable price point.
When Dan wanted to use his Land Rover Defender as a true camper, but still had young children and therefore wasn’t able to get rid of his middle-row seats or make any other permanent alterations to his vehicle, he couldn’t find any UK-made, off-the-shelf, removable system that would fit the bill. And so he set about designing and developing his own!
A few years on – and a few prototypes, and a few more tears and expletives, later – Kenshatori® is proud to share Dan’s labour of love with other Land Rover Defender owners, and give them the opportunity to live their best Defender life without compromise.

Dan
As the vision and founder behind Kenshatori®, Dan uses his design know-how and creativity to come up with a wide range of product ideas and practical designs that are always focused around both our core mission, and around the concept of maximising the space in every nook and cranny of these beautiful lifelong vehicles. After buying his first Land Rover Defender 110 TD5 in 2019 he fell in love with overlanding, and the rest as they say is HIS story!
Keith
Keith is our master cabinet builder and precision expert. Keith brings with him a wealth of experience and skills from the woodworking world, and his attention to detail and gentle tweaking of Dan’s plans – merging functionality with aesthetics – means that every product from Kenshatori® meets the highest standards of quality and style.
Liz
Liz quickly became an essential part of our team, despite being new to overlanding and the outdoors. After a memorable birthday trip to Snowdonia in 2022 that sparked her love for camping, she now brings her business expertise and dedication to customer care to keep everything running smoothly - and keep Dan and Keith in check!

Curious about our brand name?
“Kenshatori” is our fusion of the Japanese Buddhist principles of "Kensho & Satori".
Kensho, from the Zen tradition, is a combination of "Ken" (meaning "Seeing") and "Sho" (meaning "Nature or Essence"), and combined it is translated as "Seeing one's true nature or essence".
Satori means "Awakening, comprehension or understanding" – "The Aha" moment.
Kensho is about allowing ourselves to be alive to our true being, and Satori is about our deeper understanding of how we need to live our life in order to be faithful to that true being.
So for those whose Satori lies in outdoor adventuring and travel, Kenshatori® offers practical and accessible products to help make your journey to fulfilment as comfortable and affordable as possible.
